Just because Kate Middleton was wearing hose recently doesn't mean they've made a comeback. They are decidedly out, esp. in the orange drugstore version a la Mama's Family cast members.

This. C'mon people, it' s for an interview! Why in the world would you take your chances? After all, it's not likely that any interviewer would look DOWN on a candidate for wearing hose. But, if this office is at all conservative, there is a chance she would be judged for going with bare legs. And, like PP said, tights have a place but not with suits.

Can someone link me up with a picture of the kind of professional suit that would wear well with tights? Having a hard time picturing it.

This is why washington is so dowdy and will never be on a top ten list of best-dressed cities worldwide. With weather in the mid-70s, I would not wear tights or hose, and would go with bare legs. Wear pumps of course, and the right material and cut of suit (no wools, modern cut, etc.) and you will look pulled together and fine.

If you must wear hose, make sure they are extremely translucent (i.e. not opaque,). I would think you'd have a hard time finding good looking pantyhose like these in a drugstore. Dress like it is late summer (but no white) because it sort of is.

I would not wear opaque tights today. I might if it were 50 degrees or below though, depending on how they looked with the suit. Again, depends on the suit and if it is modern-ish at all or looks like something Linda Evans would wear.

another vote for hose. otherwise a pant suit. no bare legs. ever.

This shows just how "with it" you actually are; nude hose are making a comeback. Refusing to wear sheer hose in all circumstances is so very 2009!

This is why I wear pants suits for interviews. I personally think black unpatterned tights look great with black skirts in the winter but I'm not sure I'd do any other color and I'm not sure what the rules are for a suit (just thinking black skirt and a blouse or something).

And I agree, nude hose (or any hose) sounds super 1970s. I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone in my industry under early 40s wear hose. But then again I don't see tons of people going to interviews either.

Absolutely no bare legs to an interview, ever. Nude hose is the only option. Or wear a pantsuit - problem solved.

If I wear tights to work it is with a plaid skirt or other, equally "warm" material. I can't figure out what kind of professional suit would look good with opaque tights.

Seriously, when it comes to fit, hose are no different than tights. Just buy some decent hose and wear them. I would think a woman who shows up to an interview in tights is young, immature, or doesn't get it.

Hope the tights were not the opaque black ones - you will look a little odd in this weather.

Nude or taupe hose. No bare legs to an interview ever. No tights in this weather.
