Anonymous wrote:OP, really these are not a big deal - I thought you were going to post that a neighbor was mowing his lawn at 6am on a Saturday!?!
Btw, I live in Bethesda and we have lots of ice cream trucks and people who mow their own lawns ...

Good plan. But wait - part of the allure of those higher end homes with bigger lots is the large lawn! Drat - back to the drawing board.
In a high end neighborhood, your neighbors won't bother mowing themselves, they will outsource this task to a crew of guys who get the job done in 8 minutes (hardly enough time for you to work yourself into an unmedicated tizz about the noise).
Where do you live anyway that has ice cream trucks and people who do their own mowing? Silver Spring? Sounds dreadful, glad I can afford Potomac.
Anonymous wrote:What's the deal with the damn ice cream trucks coming through MoCo neighborhoods three times a day? The have the loudest music, plus these annoying buzzers and bells. As soon as the buzzer rings, it wakes up the baby. My neighbors have stopped one truck and told him to stop coming here. We all have infants and toddlers.
My lazy neighbor has been mowing and trimming his lawn since 11 a.m. It's 2:50 p.m. now. He's still not finished. Our lots are smaller than one-quarter acre!!! He does a couple rows, then sits down and drinks beer. He's in his 40s. Baby can't sleep with it going.
I can pick up sticks, mow the lawn AND trim AND pull weeds in less than 90 minutes.
Anonymous wrote:OP, I totally get why the lawn mowing thing would be so annoying. Mowers are loud, and mowing that lasts on-and-off for almost 4 hours is a bit much. See if others are bothered by it, and then leave an anonymous note on his door saying that several of you request that he please try to reduce the number of hours he spends mowing the lawn.
Not sure why so many PPs have such antagonistic responses. Especially since your subject line indicates a "vent," but for your own sake you might try some of the noise management suggestions. Good luck! At least in winter there will be no ice cream trucks.
