Forget about the kids. Sure, my 3 yo twins don't need bags full of candy. Don't you know, it's about me and Dh 'taking one for the team' and eating the candy so they don't have to.

Bring on the full size bars and booze. Halloween's not just for kids, ya know?

If you're not going to give away candy, shut off all your lights so they won't waste their time going to your house. They don't want your raisins!

Last year was my DD first time trick or treating. The house down the block from us gave out full size candy bars of several varieties. Oh man we're going back to that house this year.

We used to live in a rural area and got no trick or treaters, so the one year we had a family come by, I remember all of us scrambling through cupboards to try to find something to hand out. This post reminds me of that.

That said, my DD would get excited about stickers or granola bars or gum or boxes of raisins, because she is still very little and considers these treats. I wouldn't try giving any of these things to older kids, though.

Ugh.

Toothpaste is actually bad for you. It can wear down enamel. The only benefit it has is freshening your breath.

Many dentists now recommend brushing with mouthwash instead of paste. If you use paste, stick with "regular." Avoid whitening paste and all the other junk out there.

My Dad is a Dentist. He gives out tons of candy.

He had no problem letting me eat everything I got in my bag. We had a huge neighborhood and scored big hauls.

I've never had any rotten teeth. No cavities.

Some years, I have little chocolate cordial "liquor bottles" for the parents. They do seem to like those.
But yeah, just give em candy, it's Halloween. Some years, I will mix the candy with little plastic toy assortments, so they can choose one of those if they like, but it's Halloween, give em candy.
