I actually wondered the same thing as you - about emailing teachers instead of waiting a full month for the conferences. We just moved to this area and I wanted to know how my kids were doing! I didn't really think I wanted to wait until November to find out. Both teachers responded within 1 day, were extremely gracious, and very helpful. I think it is terrible if the teachers don't answer. I come from a family full of teachers, and most complaints were always about non-responsive parents. I think the teachers should appreciate your interest as long as it is within reason. I don't think you can email a teacher every week. But if it is once a month or something like that, I think that should be fine. And you are right to expect a response.

I had the same issue last year.

I used to teach in LCPS as a music teacher. We had the same standards as every other teacher. Respond to all parent questions within 24 hours.

My experience this year with a few emails to my son's K teacher are very thorough replies within 24 hours, but we have lots to chat about since he is receiving Special Ed. Services, so we are keeping in touch regularly about that.

I do not think it would take but a second for the teacher to say "your child is doing just fine".
