NP here and I, too, am smart enough not to need a crystal ball to know that marrying a cokehead will turn out badly. I didn't need one at 17 or 25, either.

I disagree. Being divorced TWICE by age 32 indicates that someone makes poor choices and perhaps lacks the maturity necessary to be a fixture in the lives of four children. Yes, there could always extenuating circumstances, but most likely, the sister is a bad judge of character, jumps into things without thinking, and/or immature. Or, she could have married perfectly nice guys who then found out she was batshit crazy and left.

I'm lucky that my sister is great. My SIL on the other hand... also divorced twice by 32 because she married (a) a coke head who was constantly being sued by his ex-girlfriend for not paying child support and (b) a loser who couldn't keep a steady job to save his life. How can you not see the red flags in both of these scenarios?

Really? Would you marry a guy if you knew he was a heavy cocaine user and didn't pay child support? What about someone who kept getting fired from minimum wage jobs? The second, I can somewhat understand, but I don't see how any sane person would have married her first husband.
