Sorry OP, but thanks for making me feel better about my MIL. I was upset all day because of something she said this morning. I would be furious if she did that without my knowledge.

Hahahaha. My SIL's MIL did that to her, too. In her case, SIL just never cut or brushed her kids hair. Ever. The oldest was a girl and had thin straight hair. The younger one was a boy, and he had thick curls. By the time he was about 2, they were starting to be more dread locks than curls. But she just didn't like to deal with hair, or something. She went away for the weekend and left the kids with her MIL, and when she came back, both kids had haircuts.

My MIL cut bangs into my daughter's hair when she was 5. Try growing those f'ers out!

Ugh, sorry OP. I cried when my daughter's hair was cut for the first time. It's annoying she robbed that from you. It may or may not be rational, but first haircuts are a big deal... i.e., all those little "first haircut" mementos.

Has your partner spoken with her about it?

My MIL came to visit DS at four weeks, after DH was back at work and things were in complete chaos. I asked her if she could help out by running the vacuum. She told me she was on vacation.

My nanny did it, OP.

Anyway, my friend gets angry when people call her son Casey HER. He has the longish curly hair too...

OP, my own mother did this and I was pretty upset...but of course, can imagine I'd be even more upset if it were my MIL (I know it's not rational). Anyway, I hope you are able to get over it quickly because you'll still be able to take photos the first time he goes to the barber, etc. It will be ok. I am sorry that happened though. Just take a breath and move on...

Not MIL but FIL - he called me fat 3 weeks after I gave birth. Got off the plane and literally said "yep, you're still chubby all right."

15:16 - that's awful! I would be appalled if my MIL or mother did that with my child, and I'm Christian. Talk about selfish, self-serving interests only.

Maybe we have the same friend. Lucky the MIL wasn't Jewish, or things might have been a little more ... snippy!

My FIL did this, cut my boy's bangs! That pissed me off. I would have gone ballistic if he'd cut his off all his curls. This is over the top inappropriate.

When parents left child with MIL for a weekend, the MIL secretly baptized the child at her own church.

Winner?

wow, these MILs sound like pieces of work. Or pieces of something, that's for sure.

My MIL is great, but my mom, however, that's another story....
