I highly recommend the Sport-Brella. You can get it on Amazon or at Sport Authority.

There will be sand everywhere within about 5 minutes of setting up your chairs, towels, etc.

One of the best tips I got was to bring a small inflateable pool to the beach. We'd fill it with water from the beach, and dd loved playing in the more contained area.

Life in a hotel room with a baby can be good or bad depending on the layout of the room and your baby's need for total darkness. Ideally you have a balcony so you can go out there. We have also managed to wedge DC's packnplay into closet areas that meant we could have some lights on. We also bring along a dark sheet that we can tent the packnplay with so we can use some light. Otherwise those evening hours are tough. Bring along a Kindle to read

NP here - now, I had never heard of baby powder to remove sand before. That is helpful info. Thanks DCUM. Tips like that are what the OP was asking for.

Tent or large umbrella. Baby powder for sand removal. Small blow up pool if you're not too minimalist about gear. A small bucket, shovel, cups etc.

if you don't like what you hear, then why are you seeking advice from a group of random people that you know nothing about?

would you trust your child to be cared for by a total stranger?
this is just bad parenting if you ask me.

Who watches your brat during the day? Nanny, day care? Weren't they "total strangers" before you met them? What kind of a dumb ass comment is that?

You are an absolute moron! You are the BRAT!!!! Stop being such an awful person! Your poor kids, they will be bully's for sure with a parent like you!!!!!!

This person is just looking for advice and ideas! Wow, they are not being bad parents at all! I am looking for the same answers....am I a bad parent too? Maybe we should stay at home all day and watch tv, that will make our kids smart!!! When we were young, our parents took us Camping and to the beach all the time...was that bad parenting?? There us alway someone out there who wants to make stupid comments!

I use my pop-up dog crate to alternately corral the baby and the dog---and sometimes both together---it is awesome for naps, sun-reflective, and stakes to the sand.

sitting plop down in the shallows with the babe is more likely to get her interested than any other choice. As long as the surf is gentle, she'll learn to like it.

Ditch the baby-safe sunblock in favor of sport spray dry to touch sunblock. I use aveeno 85---less sand sticks to it. Give up on swim dipes in favor of a bathing suit.....it's the beach. If she poops, scoop it up in a baggie. Dipes hold way too much sand in the crotch.

yeah, common sense can't be found on the internet.

How on earth did this question warrant this kind of response? Is that how you would have answered a friend if they had asked you face-to-face?

my friends aren't this dumb, so no I wouldn't.

I watch my own, I'm fortunate enough that my husband's income affords me the privilege to spend 24/7 with my "brats" as you so tastefully called them.

I love beach tents: they protect form the sun, the sand, hide a diaper change,....

WTH? OP had a legitimate question - asking for tips on what to bring to amuse a 7 month old at the beach. I have learned a bunch of things online (and on DCUM) that have helped me out with trips.

OP - I second the inflatable pool idea. My 8 month old DD loved sitting in it and playing with the water and toys.
