Well, unless YOU want to come up with your personal solution (i.e. driving your kids), then you take what you get and if that is a 50 min. bus ride, then that's what the public school offers. Lots of kids have been on 1 hr. bus rides. Parents around here want to coddle their kids too much. (Not that an hour bus ride is great, but it's free transportation. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.)
It would only be free tansportation if you do not pay property taxes!! Struggling with my kids 1 1/2 hour bus ride that is a 25 minute direct drive. On at 6:30 and off at 5. Bigger than most adults work day!!! Long day for a elementary school kid- Long day for any kid!!!!

One of my kids would go crazy spending that much time on the bus every day. How far away is the GT center from your house?
