I don't like it. FWIW, my DH has always dreamed of naming his first child after his favorite basketball player in middle school. I said no.

Put it in the middle if he really insists. Put a nice classic name in front of it, and then he can choose. Or you can call him Bishop if you have to, but at least he has better options.

My cousin's son is named Bishop, and although I've gotten used to it, I can't say it's a name I like. It is not a family name, and does not have any significance to them. They just liked the way it sounds. My cousin and his wife had also thrown out the name possibility of Deacon. No, I am not kidding, and neither were they. I am genuinely hoping that if their next baby is a boy, they don't decide to name him that.

I think the name will sound like a Catholic school. Like Bishop Ireton, Bishop Foley, etc. (And I'm not Catholic!)

It makes me think of the android (named Bishop) from the movie "Aliens.'

I think it's kind of weird, but it's actually my maiden name. There's an X-Men character named Bishop, right?

If you said it was a family name that died out, I would be all for it. I like the idea of using mom's maiden name or another last name from your family tree as a first name.

I like it. Kids are generally accepting of names. It's the judgmental adults you have to worry about, especially the ones who were freaked out by the Alien series.
