I also am happy to buy VHS tapes for my kids. So cheap at thrift stores and my kids don't care. I have several co workers who are happy to have gthem when my kids are finished...most are well paid attorneys too. Reduce reuse recycle

I am amazed that all of the hybrid driving, compost piling, recycling freaks on dcum are advocating trashing something that will just clog up our landfills...

I still have a VHS player.

In fact, I like VHSes more than DVDs.
+1. I still use my VHS to record. Hubby has a DVR for the big scren. I refuse to pay for a DVR when my VHS works perfectly.

The Back Porch Thrift Shop in Hybla Valley Alexandria takes them (or used to)... all their proceeds are used for training programs for the disadvantaged.

I'm sure there are hipsters across the land who would turn off their record players, climb up on their tall bikes with oversize handmade baskets, put their mason jars of water in their mason jar belt loop holders, slap on their porkpie hats, and come snap them up right now

Give them away on Craigslist. We got every Disney movie on VHS from someone on Craigslist. My 3 daughters are happy to watch them on old VHS technology

Friends of the library sells them so they'll accept them.

This organization used to collect them as part of their used book sale: www.turningthepage.org. Not sure if they still take VHS tapes but you might email them and check.

My parents still have a VHS/DVD combo and all the grandkids love watching VHS tapes at their house.

So, go ahead and donate your tapes! My mom and other grandmothers are buying bags of them from thrift stores!
