What's the difference? I've been taking Valtrex and it helps some, but it didn't eliminate them completely. I get cold sores like twice/month. It's super annoying and they are not just a little one on my lip. I get them on my nose, inside of my nose, on my lips, upper lip. ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

When I was growing up (not here) my mom used to give me a mega dose of vitamin C intravenously. It really worked, but I have since learned that it's not really good for your kidneys to take that much vitamin C at the same time.

Abreva helps, but only marginally. I once used a prescription-only topical acyclovir (forget the brand name) when I needed the cold sore to be gone immediately. It worked like magic.

Cold weather is another--invest in a scarf or balaclava in winter.

Zovirax and Famvir. mine got really bad and nothing else was working, so I had to get the Rx.

yup. the virus takes over your mucus membranes once your immunity falls.

I've had cold sores since I was in elementary school, and I'm pretty certain that I didn't have herpes then. Can someone explain?

Lol. Yes you did.
