El Pollo Rico in Arlington...just the smell as you pull up in the parking lot is fantastic!!!!

After I indulge in dinner there, I always buy at least 1/2 chicken or whole chicken for additonal meals later in week.

Is Costco cutting back on their rotisserie chickens? Every time we go there, there aren't many left in the hot warmer thing. They used to have tons and then resupply tons more quickly. I remember reading some people complain they got half cooked birds. So I was wondering if they got complaints or warnings from the health inspector and don't keep a lot of it out anymore.

After all the raves, I bought a Costco chicken from the Pentagon City shop -- never again.

Zero seasonings and had a weird aftertaste/smell like the chicken was on the verge of going bad or had been left sitting out raw too long and then cooked. Yuck!

The name is great too. I had a WF RC once and was unimpressed-it was kind of bland. Had a good one at Chicken Out recently. Frankly, the ones at Giant are good and on Fridays they are $4.99-I make chicken salad with the leftovers and stock with the bones.

I actually really like the Whole Foods chickens - so much better than what I can do at home!

I get mine from Sam's Club but sometimes they are undercooked (just like I found at Costco when we belonged). That's why I always cook them somemore in my oven or I pull it apart and saute over the stove. But it is so worth it, because the flavor is so good.

Too me the problem with Whole Foods is they cook the chickens too long, but other stores don't cook long enough for my liking.

My best guess it that it was an undercooked part of the chicken (that I had chopped up to put in chix salad, so very hard to tell what's fully cooked at the point and what's not)

I bought these at the Pentagon city Costco.

I would strongly urge readers to avoid that location's rotisserie chicken unless and until the equipment is reconfigured, or, the staff is better trained in how to fully cook poultry before setting it out for sale.

Yes, all cheap poultry in the United States harbors Salmonella. Costco's cheap chicken isn't unique in that respect. Their problem, at that location, was not fully cooking the bird to completely kill the pathogen.

I don't live in the area, but this happened to me too! Served the rotisserie chicken for dinner and a family member and I were up sick all night. Never again Costco!

Best way to weight loss.
