Has MCPS started making the calls for the wait list? We're in the single digits on the wait list.

I'm crossing my fingers for College Gardens. We are #23. They had 10 spots open after siblings of current students. I was told that last year they went to number 17 on the waitlist, and the previous year they went to 27.
Maryvale has 2 kindergarten classes whereas college gardens has one so there are better chances there.

Hello, my child is number #7 for Maryvale French Immersion program waitlist. I know someone who was #21 two years ago for the same program and they were called in June so we are hopeful for 2013.

My child just got wait list position #11 for the Maryvale French Immersion program. From previous postings it looks like there is a good chance she will still get in. Any thoughts?

Anyone know where the Rolling Terrace waitlist is at?

12:03 here.

An option for French is to send your child for at least 2 years to Lycee Rochambeau in Bethesda. Then, in 1st grade, have them apply/test into a French program in MCPS. To enter the immersion programs in second grade and above, the child must be able to demonstrate language proficiency. Of course, it's not guaranteed they will be able to enter in 2nd grade, the chances are considerably higher, esp. as children may begin to drop out.

Here's an option for Chinese: http://www.hopechinese.org/hcsgb/

Although it is outside of school...

I know of an option for French.

I'm the poster trying to learn about alternatives if we don't get in. We're hoping to get into the spanish immersion program, and we don't speak it at home. We're going to apply to the French immersion program as well, but DD has already started learning some Spanish and that's what got us interested in the immersion programs initially. Our primary objective , however, is to introduce a foreign language early. Doesn't have to be Spanish.

If you don't get off the waitlist and really want language immersion for your DC, is there a decent alternative that parents in the area tend to pursue? We're going to apply for language immersion next year, but if we don't get in we'd like to have a plan-B.

Rolling Terrace is at/beyond #18 now. College Gardens has at least moved to #10 on the waitlist. Continue to update any new numbers please. Thanks.

OP here. Yes, my child got off the wait list last summer and just finished up kindergarten at RT. We've been very happy with the program!

Thanks. I'm in the 20's and still waiting for this fall. Any idea how high it went last year?

Well into the 20s, I'd guess. Kids were getting in through the fall.
