Let's not turn this into a war about which school is better. That's silly (and petty). It is apparent that most parents are happy with the school they have chosen whether it be IT or MV. Moreover, they are completely different models and are not in competition with each other for anything other than middle class parents. IMO, either you want dual language or you don't. Both schools are in their infancy and whether or not either school will withstand the test of time, remains to be seen, so put your pom-poms down. Remember, it's just good to have options.

If being metro accessible is a concern, yes, def, go w MV. Part of their green philosophy is to allow students to come an go via metro. It is inherent in its charter. I don't think this will be as much of a priority for IT. Also, as pp mentioned if MV takes the Cap City space it is a pretty sweet location. Yellow/Green lines plus all major bus lines on 14th and 16th. Also useful to have Target around the corner.

Us too. We don't own a car and MV is much more conveninet for us.

pp @ 08:28 - You may be correct on some of these factors, but I believe lease price will be a paramount if not top priority. However, rents tend to be lower outside of NW, so this may work in favor of ending up in another part of the city.

Not just NW. There is a huge contingency of parents who are in NE in Brookland/Woodridge who would really love to see the school stay in Ward 5.

I think the school assumes (correctly or incorrectly) that the uber involved NW families will make the trek wherever they end up, and are more concerned with making the school accessible to people from other parts of the city.

IT parent here. MV was on my list too but we never made it off the list. Very happy with IT, my DC loves it more than I ever thought he would and, though in PS, DC is learning a lot. As far as location, I think every parent is wishing we knew where they will be next year. We actually had to get a second car to make the whole thing work, which is a giant pain. But my thinking is the location can't be worse than the current one for us as far as commute, so we're on it for the long-haul (unless it moves east of the river).

As a parent of a current IT student, I will say that the school could become something very good, but it definitely does not have its "act together" in the manner that many previous posters would lead you to believe. IT still has not announced its location for next year, but it will not be its current one. Rumor has it that MV will be at the location of Cap City (Col Hts.) It is a central location that is a few min walk to the metro. That is a big deal for my family as we do not own a car.

Not OP. We went with IT because we wanted more experienced teachers. We probably would have been okay with either.

Pretty good for two schools who haven't opened their doors yet. Just comparing backers and press releases at this point.

Really, no other thoughts?
