Anyone who has been in this area for 10 years or more knows:
1. The landmark area has ALWAYS been more of a "melting pot or little U.N." Just a fact, not a judgement. People will make of that what they will. Your opinion will not change theirs and a decade ago, it didn't stop people from shopping there.
2. The Landmark Mall (and Springfield Mall for that matter) used to be filled with nice places to shop. Hechts, Woodies, Garfinckels, Raleighs, Britches, decent food court, etc... now they are both deserted buildings with high vacancy rates, no name stores and random play areas.
They are both depressing, disappointing and probably a bit frightening (because there is so little mall traffic) places to visit if you knew what they were like before.
I wouldn't go to those malls or any carnivals there because of that, NOT because of the population make up there.

There was a shooting outside Pentagon Row in 2006 but that hasn't affected business. And a kidnapping at Springfield Mall in 2009. If you look at the statistics, Landmark Mall has less crime than other shopping areas in the DC metro area.
So, if its not the crime, and not the immigrants, and not the shopping, why, exactly, do you hate this mall?
I dunno. Ask all the people who posted horrible reviews here:

Personally, if I have a choice, I'd to go Tysons to shop, versus Landmark. I don't care what you do though, so why do you care where I prefer to shop?
Just because someone chooses not to go to Landmark, you're labeling them as an 'immigrant hater'? Eh, whatever.

I HATE these types of posts. I go to Landmark sometimes because it's the closest JCP to me, but I totally find it depressing. Do a Google search, and the mall gets horrible reviews because it's empty and sad. And, there was a shooting there back in 2007. Yes, it was at 2 am, but still, not great for business.
My parents are immigrants, so no, I'm not afraid of immigrants (although I do have a few aunts that are a little loony). So, don't post stupid comments. I could care less who shops at Landmark. It's just a pathetic, depressing place to be.
Must have been a long time ago, the JCP closed upteen years ago
