how are the prices for the carnival? are they suitable for a large family?

I am thinking about taking my family to the carnival, should i? We have a big family, toddlers to teenagers to seniors!

I just don't like the shopping there. There are not many stores that I am interested in. There used to be a NY and Co. and an Ann Taylor loft, but they closed. The soft play area is ok, but nothing to write home about. The sole interesting thing about the mall is that there is an international/immigrant clientele, everything else is bleak. I would be willing to check out the carnival, though.

I got a ton of day after Christmas sales and no lines! For a quick trip with easy parking I do Landmark. For a major shopping spree I prefer the comfort of my own home....INTERNET.

I love Landmark! Uncrowded with a Lands End and ChickFilA. Heck yeah.

They are both depressing, disappointing and probably a bit frightening (because there is so little mall traffic) places to visit if you knew what they were like before.

I wouldn't go to those malls or any carnivals there because of that, NOT because of the population make up there.

Grew up in this area and agree with this.

The Landmark area has always been that way and both malls were more populated up until the 90's.

Agree with a PP, the Sears (with Lands End) and Macys are great if you need to do some quick shopping. Never a problem to get a parking space, no lines, etc. but the selection is limited. Good if you need to just run in.

Landmark is really deserted. Springfield is even worse now than a few months ago. Heck even Taco Bell closed up shop! I don't know if either of the renovations for those malls will get done ever at this point.

Where do you people live?? There are immigrants at any mall in the DC area. Tysons/Wheaton/Montgomery Mall. Really. What mall can you go to in this area that doesn't have immigrants??

Hi OP - We live in Alexandria and have gone to the Landmark Carnival in years past and again this year. My 2.5 and 4.5 year old love it. There are fun activities for the kids and some age-appropriate rides. Sure, it's not the greatest shopping mall, but who cares...a carnival is a carnival! It's your standard duck games, pop balloon with darts games, water gun race games, tilt-a-whirl, ferris wheel stuff. Cheesy and a little fun. I don't understand why so many posters on this site are making fun of the Landmark Mall area, it's not that bad people. For a bunch of residents of one of the most international cities in the world, I'm shocked by your prejudice. The mall itself is so-so, but for basics from Macys or Sears, it's easy and never crowded. Get over yourselves, snobby ones! Tyson's is a ZOO! Not everyone can afford Tysons II, or Mazza Galleria!

OP - check it out. If it looks "scary" to you because there may be some minorities there, then don't go in. We live in the area, and have never had a problem. In fact, there are some pretty darn nice places to live near Landmark, including Cameron Station!

Yes, but the Landmark Macy's sucks. I do all my Christmas shopping at Tysons II and also get rock star parking because the mall is too expensive and small and poorly organized to get a ton of people. It's the only time I ever go there unless I have a special event and want to go to Saks or Needless Markup.

NP here, and apparently you do care because otherwise you wouldn't need to rely on someone else's reviews to determine where you shop.

Sshhhh, don't give away my secret. I love Christmas shopping at Macy's in Landmark and popping into Sears occasionally. I always get Hollywood parking : )

I HATE these types of posts. I go to Landmark sometimes because it's the closest JCP to me, but I totally find it depressing.
