Strange. My kids have terribly sensitive skin (hives, horrible eczema so bad it bleeds, you name it) and we haven't had any issues with oxyclean. We do, however, use a 'free and clear' washing detergent with the oxy and we always do 2 extra rinses every time we use the washer, so maybe it's the extra rinses that are helping. And we have a front loader.

I'd personally never use any sort of powder in a top loader - it just doesn't wash and dissolve properly and you'll end up with powder on your 'clean' stuff. If you need to have a top loader, I'd dilute it first, for sure.

I recently went to the emergency room after washing my white sheets with bleach and 2 capfuls of oxiclean. My entire body was on fire, red, and I became dizzy and disoriented. I had to have an IV with a steroid, antihistamine and benedryl to get it to calm down, with a decreasing steroid the following week. I went crazy because we had had a dog in the bed.....obviously I will not do this ever again!

This is late, but I also wanted to add in case it helps others. I have found that when I react to a laundry product, that redo-ing the wash without soap and a cup of vinegar seems to help a lot. If there is residual Oxyclean in the material, a second rinse should help get it out, but the vinegar should also neutralize it.

I am so allergic to Oxyclean! It's a nightmare. I literally get hives within minutes of contact, it's so painful. Think oxyclean on underwear- allergic reaction. Terrible! I'm so allergic to it, I wonder why it's even legal!

Not everyone is allergic to oxiclean, but if you are it shows up with itchy burning red sometimes flaky skin like an eczema reaction. I am a provider and I see women with chronic symptoms of bladder infections that test negative. Young children with one side of face broken out from their sheets. If laundry soap says dirt lifter, that is ok. Beware of soap that states stain lifter or enzymes. It probably has oxiclean. All Free and Clear has oxiclean. That's an Oxymoron!!! So far all of the Pyrex soaps are OK. But watch labels.
Why if it is just oxygen and water as the company claims, could it be harmful? Something (probably a chemical) has been added to stabilize the oxygen or hydrogen peroxide so it is active when needed. Enzymes??? Company secret.

I have been using the powder oxyclean and liquid for about a year. Never had any problems. I couldn't find my usualy liquid so I picked up the HD with a scent and I am covered in a rash. Neck, chest, back. I have a little rash on my check from where I just put my pillow cover on my new pillow. I think it's the scent that is causing this reaction. I also didn't think it was the detergent because when I used to have reactions to the cheap detergent my mom bought it would be on the inside of my elbows and back of my knees. I usually use tide but Oxyclean does a great job. I guess ill switch back to tide till these clears up.

I used All detergent perfume and dye free with oxyclean. I had a horrible skin reaction to it, going on two weeks now. My doctor put me on a steroid to no avail. The worst stuff on the market, they should stop making it.

Never ever had any allergic reactions to laundry detergent til I used Oxyclean liquid. The rash is bumps and terribly itchy. Cannot be anything else. Will have to use Benedryl for a while to stop the itch. Going to toss it out and go with a detergent that has nothing in it for a while. No problem with any other one i used, I believe something n their "stain" cleaning addictive.

My neck and chest are covered in a rash, and my ears are burning from itching.....I just linked the change in laundering, my work shirts are all white - I have been adding it ( Oxy Clean) to my whites and my bed sheets.....everything is being laundered tonight with a double rinse - hopefully the rash will go away soon after this

I know now that it says " may irritate skin on the back of the bottlr

I would wait it out - did you give him any type of antihistamine? Something like that, where he basically rubbed his face all over the pillow, will probably take a few days to subside.

I wish that they would listen to their consumers and change the formula.

No matter what they changed to, someone would have reactions. I'm allergic to Tide, but am fine with All and Oxyclean. I'm sure some of these Oxyclean allergic people are perfectly fine with Tide. Its just the risks we take until we find what works.

I have been washing my sheets and pillow cases with oxyclean for a few years but always notice my ears were red and ichy when I finally realized it could be the oxyclean especially if its been warm and the rubbing back and forth during the night.

My daughter broke out with itchy hives all over her legs and arms. It went away by the end of the day but each morning it reappeared...fiqured out it was the oxiclean.

+1 If it weren't for OxyClean, I would have to throw out a lot of DC's shirts.
