I work at a middle school, but we had to post our grades today to get checked out for the summer. My son is a DCPS high schooler and every teacher posted grades this week with the last two being today.

The final grade for the year will populate tonight after 10 or 11pm to be added to their transcript if it was posted today.

+1. Both my seventh grader and my freshman have all of their numbers in. Grateful to the teachers for moving so quickly.

Now freshman awaits their first ever announcement of ...class rank. (gulp)
Does this post in Aspen or only Naviance?

DCPS has class rankings? My kid goes to a DCPS HS and doesn’t have class rankings that I know.

Walls doesn’t. So far as I know, all other DCPS high schools have class rank printed on the transcript.

Walls doesn't print a rank on your transcript? Wonder why they (uniquely) opt out.

I heard some parents threw a fit.

Yes. Walls is unusual in that there is a cohort of about 15 kids per year that complete their last two years of high school via the GW program - meaning they take classes at GW their last two years instead of classes at Walls (with the exception of some Walls requirements like internship and senior project etc). My understanding is the kids taking classes at GW all got a point bump for every class taken at GW on their transcript so there was no way for "regular" kids at Walls to compete GPA-wise, no matter how many APs you take. Comparing apples to oranges I guess. FWIW I can see on Naviance there are sky high weighted GPAs that my "regular" Walls kid who is taking 4 APs junior and senior year plus calc 3 could not mathematically attain, even though kid has straight As. So I guess there was something to the parents' complaint (and the resulting elimination of ranking via GPA at Walls).

What you wrote is true. But the parents who got rid of ranking truly did throw a fit. Particularly one parent who threw fits about everything involving their child. Truly the squeaky wheel (to the extreme).

We all benefit from sqeaky wheels.

Not all the time. In a school setting the squeaky wheel is usually just to help their kid. They don’t care about yours.

But if the squeaky wheel's interests are aligned with yours, hey free labor! Thank you, squeaky wheels, for solving your kid's problems that my kid shares.

When you login to ASPEN do the following:

Click the person icon in the upper right hand corner.
Select "view full site"
Select "family"
Scroll down to documents
Find the most recent transcript in the list.
Open it by clicking the file with the arrow in it to download.

If your child is an 9th grader, they will have a transcript from middle school, but it will only have the classes that count for HS credit and it will not have a rank. When ASPEN flips this summer for the new school year, you will get a transcript and a rank (unless they are at Walls based on this thread).

Sometimes. Depends on what they squeak about.
