Exact opposite here lived in NYC and DC my entire adult life and now want to move to the suburbs of a much smaller city.

Wherever you go, there you are, still with the same exact problems...

Np- I’ve moved a few times and it’s not true IMO. I think new place = new life. Scenery, weather, people all impact mood hugely. My dh benefitted immensely from our last move, even in terms of health.

Both can be true; it depends on the person and what they want to change.

I'm late 50s. Youngest off to college soon, married 30 years to the same guy, we're doing fine, I'm a SAHM, tail end of menopause. Going to finish my first novel in the fall, finally. It's been on the slow burner for some years. There just hasn't been the time to get it down but I see the clearing ahead. I think you need to have something creative boiling in the background to turn to that is all your own. Your own sandbox to play in, something you can pull up and disappear into for an hour or two here and there. That's what I love about fiction writing. I can create and paint my own worlds and dip in for a few minutes when I've needed a break from menopause, lol. It works for me. I also make sure to get enough exercise. I'm still skinny.

Considering a huge move and quitting my job but have to wait until kids finish college. I work in tech, ai adjacent and I absolutely hate it. In peri and my concentration and tolerance for work meetings and dynamics is out the window. I’m craving more land and peace and tuning out the world.
