The reality also is you can't really control your kid's nicknames. Once they're in preschool they will come home with variations on their name you never expected.

Name perception changes over time though. Laurie used to be a common nickname for boys named Lawrence. Ashley and Lindsay used to be boy names. The historical list of people with the name Wren will not reflect contemporary attitudes on the name.

I don't even agree with the PPs on here that Wren is definitively feminine at this point. There was a male character on the show Pretty Little Liars named Wren, which wasn't that long ago. But I do think it's skewing feminine more recently.

A wren is a small, cute bird. Like a sparrow. Please do not saddle a boy with that name.

pls no to either. Also, if it matters a couple trans kids we know go by wren/ren- seems to be a popular choice

I know a male Wren and female Renn. If you want him to be called Ren, just name him that.
