So is this why some coaches ask for this information. Came off creepy but if not playing while on avoids ACL tears im all for it

Fascinating part of that article:

"The research team will specifically monitor estrogen and progesterone levels -- hormones previously linked to increased ligament laxity and decreased neuromuscular reaction times -- while cross-referencing against physical performance data."

It is a known link and possibly one of many factors: turf, cleats, bone structure, weaker hamstrings that may play a role. It's just too hard to determine what % each factor is

Not random from what I have since learned about it. Her doctor asked the same question. She says she was due to start it in a day or two, so just before.
im sorry. This is intriguing asf. Ill probably google but is this a known correlation? And if so why is this not widely discussed.

Only direct experience is with my sister years ago when she tore her meniscus playing volleyball in a spring league when she was your DD's age. She quit volleyball to focus on basketball. She timeline was pretty similar and due to the timing of things, didn't miss significant in-season basketball time.

Good Luck!

Thank you. Was the girl on your daughter's team slower or just rusty when she came back?

There was some rust there for sure which was pretty quickly shaken off, but the biggest thing is confidence. This particular player was one that played hard in the midfield, making tackles, always going at top speed, so trusting that all is well was the biggest thing per my DD talking with her. Good Luck!
