No, sex trafficking is not a minor crime.

He's not accussed of sex trafficking. This was a sting operation with no actual transaction and no accusations of prior activity.

He communicated with someone he thought he was making a deal with for sex. Traveled to the location where the sex was to take place. May be one of the men with the exact cash amount requested for sex.

Actual transaction is not part of the crime of solicitation AND the fact there is no accusation of prior activity: we have no idea if that is true and even if it is, so?

None of this has anything to do with sex trafficking. He attempted to enter into a transaction with a consenting adult of a type that's illegal in his state but not in all states. This is a minor crime, should he even be convicted of it.

Do we know that the other party was a consenting adult? Perhaps he was making a transaction with someone who was trafficking a minor or a non consenting adult. We just don't know.

The other party was a police officer.

The arrest was "for allegedly attempting to pay for sexual acts" according to multiple news articles. I doubt trafficking, non-consent or sex with a minor would be overlooked in the charges or the reporting. Very straightforward - and disappointing - but no reason to dramatize things here, unless that's your kink.

Still a crime, often with an imbalance of power (women need money, drug addicted, can’t get away from pimps safely, no stable life or family)- committed by one who has taken a vow of celibacy. His job is gone, his reputation is gone, and I hope he also has a criminal record for it now.
