Unlikely. 1300 SAT is too low. 75th percentile is a 1510 at UVA. Also she needs a weighted GPA of 4.5 plus full rigor, a dozen APs if offered in her high school, etc. great ECs, top 6% of class.

This past year?
VT admissions has gotten really unpredictable for kids with 1300 Sat and GPAs in that same range.


VT can vary widely by major and I think this student has a good chance there for English. It should definitely be on the list.

Liked the experience of getting to know kids from CT. MA, NH, VT, NY. Large school advantage but not huge. Defined pretty campus. A lot going on on-campus. Certainly, sports are exciting. Everything you need is right there on campus but for adventures, you could seek out bus trips to NYC or Boston. Only a small amount of greek life. DD traveled by Amtrak between DMV and school.

I feel like some of these schools aren’t in the same tier as each other and I’m not sure I’d recommend that many OOS publics. And I thought UCSB>UCI and Davis? I think UCSD would be the next step after UCSB. For a tier up from the listed schools agreed on Villanova and Georgia then would probably add George Washington, Fordham, Lehigh, Maryland


I have no idea what state the OP is in, but since they had UCSB on the list, I suggested Irvine and Davis as those are both known for being strong in writing, and the student wants to major an English. I agree that the person‘s list is a bit all over the place geographically so was trying to come up with a few more schools that had some similarity or overlap. These are just suggestions to consider!
