Keep what sparks joy. I know it’s silly but it works.

So maybe they aren't as dated as you think for 50-something year olds from wealthy areas?

Is a denim pencil skirt "in"? Or is this out?

Are wide leg jeans more in style than straight leg? I have some Everlane skinny jeans. Do I get rid of those? Why is this so hard?

I am so over cottagecore, but for some reason that trend has not yet ended.

I am also over brown, which has been trendy for seven years. It is flattering on me, but I will only wear a little at a time now.

Sunglasses are smaller overall, these days.

Please don't tell me I can wear whatever makes me feel good. Believe me when I say I am not a slave to fashion. But I don't want to look like I am stuck in 2010 either.

Get rid of anything you think doesn’t flatter you.

Get rid of cold shoulder tops.

That sounds like a good approach. If you truly love something and feel fantastic every time you wear it, though, keep it.

Handbags that you don't wear anymore, are in fair condition or seem too young for you. If they have big branding, are not a premium brand, and you don't like it now, don't expect to warm up to it in the future or that your kids will want it.

Get rid of the rest of it. I know people swear that skinny jeans are making a comeback . . . but the fitted, pre-pandemic versions are going to look dated, and you have to style them carefully to make them feel current.

+1 lots of people wearing denim skirts and they look nice.
