Yes even if not dishonest he’s still cheap and wants to show he’s going to be that way from the start. I could see this as normal for committed partners but not at a first romantic date

This.

Still kind of cheap and he’s okay showing his calculations to his date. I would pass

I know someone that got a dinner stipend around $25 when traveling but if they were with a client; it was pretty much unlimited He would go to a steakhouse by himself and order two steaks. Would pay the bill and just leave the second steak sitting on the table at the seat, would tell the server to enjoy or give it to kitchen staff to take home.

Or he has an expense account. Not saying it’s an ethical way to use the expense account, but you can easily have one.

These issues only rise because feminists still expect free lunch in return of going out, making out and sleeping with the payors. Its not too adults exploring potential of dating, matting, marrying and splitting costs as personal expenses.

This isn't obvious. At all.

You don't like him enough or you wouldn't have immediately leaped to the most ungenerous interpretation, so may as well move on.

This. You’re making a big leap without any real information.

That's a red flag for multiple reasons. I wouldn't go out with him again.

You could always ask him about it instead of assuming his intent.

Travel is one possibility.

Another is that he is allowed to use a card for business and business expenses and he needs to keep track of which is which.
