It doesn't work that way. I've shown up looking like death and been upgraded. It's just because I have status from work travel.

Me too! But I'm a doctor. I was shocked the one time I got a room upgrade with a private pool.

OP: I like a dress with pockets and a jacket over it. Bonus if I can be braless (i'm a proud greatful member of the IBTC).

I get that. We have status. But I've also seen how even without status people are treated better when they don't look like slobs.

Being friendly and nice is going to get you further than being dressed up, if there's any discretion.

I agreed. But I contend being friendly (how is it that we live in a world where this has to be said) and dressing nicely gets you better service. Pretty much anywhere.

If you’re naturally pretty it doesn’t matter. If you aren’t particularly attractive then yes, dressing nicely gets you better service.

A good “test” for if you’re pretty or not is are you treated differently when you dress up vs down.

Same for if you’re fat - if you want to be treated nicely, dress nicely. Lots of fat bias in the world unfortunately.

Also sorry I had to be the one to tell you this!! I’m sure you figured it was a universal rule for everyone : (

I'm amused. Are you the OP of the thread on the obsession with the older GF who used to be hot?

Old Navy activewear sets are surprisingly good, and they have a range of items for the matching colors (sweats, tanktops, shorts, long cardigans, etc.). My sister lives in Greenwich, and she constantly wears them and still blends even though they are inexpensive.

You will get sunburned if you wear sleeveless. Yes, even in a car.

Spanx is great for this.

I need a scarf or two to drape around me. With the air on, I get cold in the car. I tend to wear a one piece loose dress with no bra. The scarf I can drape over my chest, to cover my chest when I go into a rest stop.

Aaaanyway...

OP I really like the whisper knit pieces from Z by Zella at Nordstrom Rack. They are cozy but also lightweight. I have several pairs of the wide leg sweat pants and they are perfect for road trips because they are super lightweight fabric so I don't roast in the sun, but full coverage so I don't get cold with the AC blasting. I would pair with a tank and then maybe get one of the matching jackets or hoodies to throw on if I was going in somewhere with AC or wanted to look pulled together stopping for lunch or to check into a hotel.
