Too much guilt in religion
The more religious = more guilt = poor mental health

Muslims literally starve themselves of all hydration and nutrition from dawn to dusk for 30 days.

The same exact sentiments behind the term can certainly exist in all religions/cultures. All religious groups have internal conflict and disagreement. But they don't use this kind of in-group terminology. Where did the term "self hating Jew" come from, or originate?

There is a lot of guilt in Judaism. It's holiest day is Yom Kippur a day of atonement.

In Christianity our holiest day is Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Christ who died for our sins.

Actually the holiest day in Judaism is Shabbat, which is why there are restrictions on how you can pray on Yom Kippur if it falls on a Friday evening or Saturday.

Babies are born with sin aren't they. Go to confession?? ETC

There is no more "guilt" in Judaism than there is in Catholicism

Babies in Roman Catholicism are born sin free which is why if a choice must be made to save mother or child them then the sin free child is saved.

I am not RC but I believe that children in Roman Catholicism have their first communion at age 12 as well as their first confession.

Anonymous wrote:I am not Jewish, but the framing here is still pretty transparent to me. You are presenting this as a neutral question about terminology, but it reads more like a clever way to criticize Jewish people, particularly Zionist Jews, for how they debate disagreement within their own community.

If the question is genuinely about the origin of the phrase “self-hating Jew,” then ask that directly. But comparing Jewish internal language to other religious groups in this way makes the point seem less like curiosity and more like commentary dressed up as curiosity.

Your cleverness is evident. The underlying criticism is not hard to see. And as someone outside the Jewish community myself, I would be careful about positioning myself as the person who gets to diagnose how Jews should talk about Jewish identity, Jewish disagreement, or Jewish politics.

I guess it’s for Jews who don’t agree with what Jews do to others in name of religion and defense. They feel guilty by association but find no open exits to disassociate themselves? Every religion has this struggle. Moderate or liberal Muslims don’t want to associate with extremists and their actions even if in retaliation of occupation and apartheid but they are all lumped in together.

That is not at all where the tterm came from.

Yes but that’s where it seems to be now.

Humans need to stop the stupidity of thinking of themselves as superior or chosen because of race or religion.

Minorities start hating their skin color and hair when looked down upon by majority.

You obviously don’t pay attention to the infighting among Christians.
