The newest generation of Natives are no longer uniformly black. They are younger Millennials and Gen Z that are Latino, white, have immigrant parents, Desi, mixed race, etc.

It's no longer Chocolate City. It will quickly become Melting Pot City. The Council and Mayor's Office will reflect this within the next 10-15 years.

This may come as a surprise to many here, but DC was a majority-white city for the vast majority of its existence. It's only been since the '60s until a few years ago that it was majority-black.

People are tiring of the divisive idea that you can’t care about DC if you weren’t born in DC. Transplants don’t want to take over the city; we want to live safe, happy, healthy lives much like any human living anywhere.

FWIW, two of DC’s most popular mayors (Barry and Williams) weren’t born or raised in DC; but I suspect your comments are more about the people who are voting, not who’s getting elected.

McDuffie’s team has consistently pushed this idea that transplants want to take over the city and I know, at least for me, it put me off McDuffie.

My circles are a mix of transplants and DC natives, and most people in real life are more concerned with who is a good and kind neighbor, not where you were born.

Are you planning on keeping these transplants from voting?

What a silly thing to comment. What I do know is a handful still vote in their home state.

What are you going to do when transplants vote for a transplant (that doesn't vote in their home state)?

Transplants still voting in their home state can’t run for office So who cares?
