are any of these schools religious but not strict as in where Bible study or religion is not required?

Sounds like you want religious, but not Catholic. There’s a Lutheran school in South Arlington, blanking on the name right now, but could google it.

Dominion Christian is under 20k for k-6, then I think it’s 20 or 21 for 6-12. K-6 in Oakton and then you can take a shuttle to get to Herndon for the later grades, where the upper school is, or you can do all of k-12 at the north campus in Herndon. Religiously conservative but not super in your face about it imo, solid academics.

Tyndale (Arlington) and Grace Lutheran (Falls Church) might be worth a look. The latter only goes through 8th; Tyndale is rolling out 9th grade this fall.

They are more expensive than your baseline, but financial aid might be possible. Large Chinese population who board, as well as American day students. Classical curriculum. We had a few students transfer to our kids' classical school after Veritas moved from their previous location to Arlington, and AFAIK the students seemed well prepared.

Well, it’s an ultra-conservative school targeted the wallets of Chinese families looking to send their kids to the US. Just look at their website…if it doesn’t give you chills, it might be a good fit.

Yes, religion is a big part of Catholic schools. To my knowledge, the only thing students of other religions can opt out of is sacrament prep. They still take religion class and go to mass regularly.

Agree and FWIW religion is not only in the 1 religion class. This is true especially in K-8 schools but also in HSs and it wouldn’t be possible to opt out.

No, you cannot opt out of a core element of the school’s educational philosophy and curriculum.
