NP. I wear closed toed flats on airplanes. I can't imagine wearing lace up shoes on planes (most of our flights are 8 hours + though). I wear thick socks to stay warm.
On 99% of my vacations I either have flats or sandals. I only bring sneakers if we're doing something athletic or hiking (in which case I'd bring hiking boots).
Why are you all saying tennis shoes in the rain? I wear sandals in the rain so that my tennis shoes and socks aren't soaked. I have quick dry sandals. My favorites are croc kaydee thong sandals. I'm not a fan of any other sort of crocs, but I LOVE those sandals. I started wearing them for plantar fasciitis while pregnant and never stopped.
