+1
Looks like this thread isn't going the way OP had planned.

They could pad the highway fund by calling off pointless foreign wars.

Trump and his boomer officials should pay a flatulence tax. White House fumigation will cost a mint when they’re 😵 or kicked out of their smelly seats.

Leftists aren't buying Teslas, their new customer base is MAGA.

Are republicans going to also tax cars that get high MPG? These cars are not paying their fair share vs an F-350.

Also where is this money going to go? Will it on,y be spent in red states or given to Trump slush fund?

Well in more advanced countries that is done. When you use a public charger it is billed to your home.

Yep! Every EV that replaces an ice car reduces demand for energy by the equivalent of removing 3 ice cars. Trump and conservatives just keeping increase the cost of everything. While cutting taxes and subsidizing billionaires.

MAGA and conservatives are just so out of touch with real people.

Republicans want to raise taxes but refuse to tax data canter which drives up the cost for everyone. Also republicans started and support a war that increased the price of a gallon of gas by $1.72.

Why are republicans always taxing people?

Average EV owner drive 9,000-13,000 miles vs average gas car driver 12,000-14,000 miles a year. Average gas tax paid by gas car $73-93 dollars a year. Republicans want to tax EVs at double the rate of gas cars.

The US government already gives HUGE subsidies to gas car drivers, including trillion dollar oil wars, subsidies to oil companies, and not charging drivers to clean up their air pollution. Road damage is exclusively caused by huge trucks, not heavy cars (and by the way, giant gas trucks are heavier than EVs), and than this new tax is HIGHER than gas taxes

And while they might not pollute the air directly, they charge with power that is usually based off of releasing carbon and more importantly the batteries that they use are incredibly toxic and almost impossible to dispose of in a way that doesn’t damage the environment.

Just get rid of the gax taxes and put up toll roads everywhere. Or, put a surcharge on EV registrations.

Also, $130 per year for an EV driver is nothing. They save more on gas in a year.

We have both types of cars, FWIW, and it's true, EV drivers also need to pay for road upkeep, especially as EVs are heavier.
