This. Carpet beetles are easily identifiable and don't hide out the way bedbugs do. Carpet beetles are like dust mites in that they feed on dead skin cells in the dust that's trapped in your carpet and upholstery. They do not bite humans but their larva can cause allergic reactions in some people resulting in skin welts that are mistaken for bites.
