These are what I thought of too. UMW seems to be dropping/consolidating majors which is going to affect enrollment.

Drexel had a major deficit (over 52 million) according to 2024 990 but they did merge so may be OK.

+1. UVA-Wise and UVA’s satellite campuses all serve specific needs - like education for Appalachia kids and adults wanting to return to school for certifications in specific areas. That will never change because the Commonwealth thinks that’s of value.

I think LACs outside the top 50 that don’t have strong endowments will gradually fall. Eventually some with good endowments will fall too - people are having fewer kids. Hampshire was founded pretty recently and had a pretty low endowment.

I didn’t know Beloit was struggling so much. Only 100 students in the next class.
Where did you get Juniata? I’m curious because DC seriously considered it. It’s a great little school. I didn’t see any red flags.

This was posted in April and many students enroll may 1st or right before. The yield is a Bit rough, but it isn’t far off from peers.
Armed with her usual arsenal of numbers, Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Athletics Karen Schedin transitioned the proceedings from committee reports to an update on admissions. “Good news from the admissions office,” she said cheerfully, announcing to a showering of applause that Beloit College has received 192 first-year deposits from new students for fall 2026. Schedin also emphasized that this was a 45% increase from this time last year, when the number was 134, and that there will also be 67 students on campus for Accepted Students Day on April 18. The numbers also reflect a good pace for accepted students, a 35% increase from last year, and Schedin estimated that Beloit will reach 4,000 accepted students in their current recruiting cycle.

I'm a Beloit alum, and I haven't heard anything at all about enrollment issues this year. In fact, it seemed like Beloit has been making good efforts to diversify their offerings by absorbing some of the pre-professional programs of other Wisconsin schools that have shut down- like health sciences. They also recently added women's hockey. Like so many other small LACs they do struggle with budget issues, but not to the extent that they're on the verge of shutting down- I would be shocked if that were the case.
