We moved my mom a few months ago. I agree with keeping as much of her old belongings as possible. Family members thought it would be nice to get her all new bedding and clothing, but she didn't recognize the new stuff as hers, and ended up avoiding the bed and only wearing her older clothes.

She has had a few bad days where she was agitated and looking for us, but overall it has been a much smoother transition than I had dreaded. The aides are very nice but for the most part they leave her alone which is what she prefers.

Make sure you visit her every other day or find a caregiver. In this case you will have a peace of mind with your moms wellbeing. Best of luck!
