That's crazy. and back in our youth, people thought riding a skateboard w/o a helmet was nuts.

As reported in the news, these e-bikes are now a menace in affluent suburbs all across America.

I've seen them hot wheeling by Randolph's bakery after school lets out. I agree that they are a menace.

I love seeing the big groups of kids on normal bikes in our neighborhood. They generally wear helmets and follow the rules of the road. However, for whatever reason the ones on motorized bikes (slightly older) are doing things like playing chicken in traffic, doing wheelies not wearing helmets on major roads, and yes, tearing up lawns/park grass. I wish their parents would require them to wear helmets and pass a licensing exam. The risks they take put others at risk (and I don’t want to see them get hurt, either).

Motorized bikes/scooters move too fast for driver reflexes — when they pop out from between cars it’s terrifying.

Drivers, get dash cams to protect yourselves.

At least our Arlington youth are better behaved than these knuckleheads in Bethesda that even ran pedestrians down. It’s pretty much boils down to affluenza/sense of entitlement:

You are disgusting POS.

No, I'm not. The parents are. They zoom down Washington Blvd from W&L towards Swanson during rush hour without helmets. One of them will get killed and others will be blamed when it is the parents fault and the kids. If they were taught to ride safe, they don't and they've been doing it since at least fall.

Darwinism.

You called children “ner do wells”.

Definitely a disgusting POS.

Saw him turn off into a neighborhood street.

It's just bonkers. I talked to someone on Arlington transportation staff about this and they were pretty much like oh it's a loophole in the regulations nothing we can do.

Here's hoping they update whatever laws/regulations because someone's child is going to get hurt or worse. I have seen all manner of NOT obeying traffic laws and general unsafe riding behavior from those kids.

You are an idiot.

All the kids I see doing this are UMC N Arlington kids whose parents I'm quite sure have the correct lawn signs advertising their position to the neighborhood.

They were enjoying the afternoon riding along Wilson yesterday. A group of about 10 kids on bikes. I don't think they are maga but they are definitely well-off. They stopped at all the lights and obeyed traffic laws. Meanwhile I saw a couple cyclists blow through red lights.
