There were so many fads in the ‘80s. Granted, many of them looked ridiculous, but I wouldn’t have considered Jellies to be a sophisticated or classic style, either. To name just a few off the top of my head:

leg warmers
fingerless gloves
Add-a-Bead necklaces
Twist bead necklaces
big hair
big bows for the big hair
Units
Gunne Sax dresses
Bubble dresses
loose jumper dresses
bold color-block styling
fluorescents
shoulder pads
off the shoulder sweatshirts
etc.

Fashion was fun and exciting back then. With so many varied options to choose from, why on earth did someone pick Jellies to resurrect?

Because my mom didn't let me have them then and now I can buy them with my own money... (I literally just told my 10yo this story!)

I was never allowed to get them. So frustrating!

But I should call and thank my mom because I think she was correct on that ruling.

Haha same!

I bought jellies last spring from Nordstrom Rack. Clear colored and they make my painted toe nails look super cute. I receive a ton of compliments on them, and even though I have blister prone feet, I haven't received one. Of course I'm only wearing them casually, and not running around all afternoon biking and hopping through sprinklers like I did when I was 10.

I still have nightmares about the sweat and dirt combo in my jellies from my teens. And the sound...squish.

I mean, 3" heels have always been uncomfortable, and yet women continue to wear them.
