Give it a rest. The kids who sign up for this camp are not the ones you seem to think will attend - when my DD attended, it was all her friends and they had no complaints (they go to Carson).
I can’t believe some people think this is some kind of conspiracy. It’s for the whole county! They do it at 5 different middle schools! And I can tell you right now the super wild kids with iffy home lives and uninvolved parents are absolutely NOT at county-run summer camps. Even if they probably should be.

No, it's just a regular camp for middle schoolers since they have aged out of so many of the county camps.
This is the case for middle schoolers across Fairfax county (and the broader dmv) but most aren’t offered a heavily tax payer subsidized camp option without some additional reason.
It’s the same reason middle school after school programs have been subsidized historically: middle schoolers are the number one demographic to find trouble if left to their own devices. They are too young to work, too old for a babysitter, and their brains are too immature to make good choices. A subsidized camp saves the county money in the long run when they don’t have to deal with so many issues.
Yes. “VIP” stands for “Value in Prevention.”

Any camp with the word “prevention” in it is not one we are interested in.

The camp itself is pretty cool, and the kids have a lot of freedom to choose what they want to do, but there are kids who need the extra guidance.
LIAR
You know Carson has 1 cop car outside every school day ..
Yes there were three there.

There's nothing telling about it. They break the county up and all the nearby middle schools feed in.

Yes it is. A camp with kids from Hughes or Herndon is possibly going to have more behavioral issues.
WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? You go on and on about Hughes and Herndon and their feeder schools (I am confident you are the person who is so deeply offended that kids from Coates and McNair go to Carson and will go to Skyview). Just stop it. You are racist and classist and it's really sick.
The OP asked for opinions on the camp. If you can’t handle a differing opinion, leave. I personally wouldn’t choose a camp of kids from Hughes and Herndon went there.
I am not the same poster talking about Coates and McNair and Skyview, but I agree, those are problem schools as well and that’s why some folks don’t want to go to Skyview.
