Ensure you do your research well. Per admission officer, average SAT is1510 to CS and engineering. Ensure you have UMBC as a backup. Plus they have over 50% OOS kid. If in state tuition is important. CS and engineering are also limited enrollment.

Thx. That’s surprising. Was gpa and rigor pretty good? I definitely would have submitted a 34 too! That’s a great score!
Yes. Good rigor and GPA. Applied for Business so maybe that was the issue?

Anonymous wrote:It really, really, really matters where your DC is applying from when evaluating chances for U-MD. They very much care about geographic diversity within Maryland, and standards will vary from school to school and district to district. Assuming you are from DMV, and so your school has many UMD applicants each year, start with Naviance, and then ask your school's college advising office if they can tell you whether any students you see with your DC's stats submitted scores or not.

I have seen this quoted multiple times on this site. Did you hear this recently? I’ve heard always submit if you’re from a high performing school and you don’t have an otherwise incredibly compelling story and ECs.

Near perfect unweighted GPA? It also depends on the rigor of coursework.
Yes, was trying to keep post short. Only has 1 B so far I think. Good rigor (all core classes are advanced or AP except 1. So good rigor but not Ivy League rigor.)
What's "Ivy League rigor?"
Rigor that future Ivy League kids take, so taking most rigorous level class that’s offered at that high school in all core subject areas or taking 6 AP classes per semester, IB student, etc.
