Now that you mention it, probably not.

My tween always brushes his teeth in the shower. On weekdays, he showers in the morning and at night. On weekends he only showers at night.

So yeah, I bet he's not brushing his teeth in the morning on Saturday and Sunday. Gross.

so gross. and everyone is always wondering why they're always sick now and never think about how nasty their hygiene is.

Sigh. I'm still occasionally brushing and flossing my kid and he is 9. If I let his do it on his own for too long, his teeth get mossy and his breath stinks. I hope he learns to practice good hygiene before high school.

With less structure on the weekends, I am sure there are days my kid forgets (in the morning). But yes, brushing twice a day every day is the expectation.

Good teeth are genetic. My husband doesn’t floss and has never had a cavity. Meanwhile I have had root canals and cavities.

In college we didn’t always make it home at night so there were a lot of missed brushing teeth at night.

Be honest those with teens, you have no idea especially if they go to be later than you. The times you cross paths you can remind them but otherwise it’s tough to know.

FWIW they are up and out early in the day and are a house with four kids close in age so it seems pretty busy.

Do you brush yours on the weekends? And if it's the neighborhood kids you're worried about, stop

Are you serious! Brushing your teeth is twice a day every day of your life!

Of course. Don't you brush yours on the weekend? It's not like microbes in the mouth are on a M-F schedule.

Right? Cavities don't practice banking hours.

My kids? Absolutely.

But I grew up in a house that wasn’t always, , um, attentive, so I can definitely see my young self declaring a “rule” that I didn’t have to brush teeth on weekends and nobody noticing.

In fact my mouthful of fillings and crowns suggest that it may have gone down exactly this way.

This.

This again. Guessing those kids don’t brush unless a parent nags (sort of like mine).
