How do you deal with it?

I have a daughter who’s put off university for a few years because she says not all degrees lead to jobs and you don’t know what the future holds.

She googles every degree and find people complaining that they cant find work.

But that doesnt mean you shouldn’t try. How can I help her do you think?

That’s a crippling way to live. Won’t get married because what about all the unhappy married people/stories about cheating? Won’t have kids because what about the people whose kids get cancer/have behavioral problems?

Everything - EVERYTHING - in life comes with risk. Frankly you should do a quick review of what a cost/benefit analysis is with her. Because that’s how we have to approach life if we’re going to do anything.

She also sounds like she’d benefit from more time spent offline, perhaps (especially) in service to others.

How would I deal? I would ask her what HER plan is for the future. Sitting around my house, using my internet googling professions isn’t a plan. She needs a dose of reality STAT.

I never presented college as optional. Grad school is optional. College? No.
