Only if I could verify who they were and only if I knew I could be next to them the whole time. I've had people I let in my house steal things (lost an Edwardian diamond ring of my grandmother's and some other jewelry to some pest control people).

When I was a kid, my sister and I were on a school vacation trip with my mom near where she grew up in another nearby state. I distinctly remember her taking us to see the house she grew up in. She knocked on the door, and we all got a tour of the house.

I agree. I would have no issue with this but would prefer a little notice. My neighbor still occasionally sees the person who lived in our house prior and I always tell my neighbor to bring her by if she wants to see the house. But just pulling up and asking to come in is a little much.

After my grandmother passed we called the owners of the home she and my grandfather had built. The current owners were so kind and let us visit. I think they enjoyed meeting us and asked some questions. They still got occasional junk mail so they knew the name. If someone just knocked on my door I would be hesitant.

One beautiful spring day, I was doing yard work in my front yard of a previous house and two full cars pulled up. 8 people, from multiple generations came out and introduced themselves. My house was the childhood home of a set of siblings, now in their 60s, everyone was in town for a family reunion and wanted to see their old house. They were so genuine and kind and I was thrilled to be able to show them (despite my apologies that I had two kids under 2 and the house was a mess). They told a couple of funny stories with their memories of their house and it was such a lovely moment for everyone. I hope if my kids want to bring their kids to see the house they grew up in - it will be as special as this was.

No. I wouldn’t. It’s weird. It’s your home now. Not theirs. You’ve surely made changes and it’s filled with your own furniture and items that they have no connection to.
