Pilsners, kolsch, light lagers are all easy drinkers.
I like Oberon as a summer beer too.
Avoid the flavored beers unless you know someone's really into something like a lemon shandy.

Pretty sure Michelob Ultra is the best selling beer among UMC men and women right now. If you’re at a nice golf course, it’s what most golfers seem to be drinking, if they’re drinking beer.

Most of the imported beers aren’t imported from anywhere. The conglomerates own the distribution rights and make it in the U.S. with the cheapest ingredients. It’s all a marketing scam.

When you’re having a party, you’re not supposed to have a huge variety of beers.
I’d have one Pilsner and one light Pilsner.
You don’t need fancy IPAs.
I’d get Stella or Corona (no you don’t need the lime)
And Amstel light
It doesn’t have to be “great” it just has to appeal to the masses.

Just buy a Sam Adams variety pack OR go to your local bottle shop and ask them to pick out a handful of mid-tier 6 packs for you. They would love to do this and you'll get a fun variety.

Pick a lager from a local brewery — I also like Fair Winds, but there are lots of options. If you want to mix it up, throw in some Heineken and whatever the Sam Adams seasonal is.

You do not have an idea and that's fine. Your upscale options are no different than coors or miller lite and no guiness/ipas aren't offensive. Maybe pick up some variety packs from a local brewery. Most breweries put out 12 packs with a 3 or 4 different types (I guess it depends where you are located).
Nobody wants disgusting IPAs anymore, especially at a casual gathering at someone's house. That fad is dead.
I will happily take your IPAs, even though I probably won’t like all of them.
Can’t stand a couple of the others listed in the thread as popular, but I won’t yuck someone’s yum. Beers vary pretty widely.

Stella and Sapporo are good, generic but still vaguely (slightly) upscale. If you get Coronas, serve them with lime wedges. Sam Adams is okay. I can't stand Yuengling.
