Seems like if you’re in Bowie or further west on 50 then it could work to get there in under 30 minutes.

Teaching my kids by myself at home. My kids go to public schools but I cherry-pick my own curriculum, textbooks etc, etc. And I teach them like a tutor - couple hours every day. I can teach all subjects from K-12 but not the foreign language that they learn at school.

Most parents cannot put that much time and effort with their kids.

Three hot fresh meals a day cooked from scratch with fresh organic ingredients. Minimal processed food and junk food. We will spring for well-regarded restaurants.

Blood draws. Dealing with days off from school. Seeing kid missing out on childhood joys. One of our kids has a chronic disease. I feel we spend our time in the lab.

From where? Because from where I live in MD it’s an hour and a half. You do realize that that this area is composed of places other than where you personally live correct?

Also do you go there any other time than when it’s warm? It’s simply not enjoyable when it’s cold/not good weather.

The DC area actually includes a pretty large area-not just “DC”,But ok. And in no way is Sandy Point 30 minutes away from DC either. Maybe if you go at 2am and even that’s a stretch.

I feel like it's such a parenting hack. Pack up a lunch, bring some chairs, sometimes bring our 5 person raft or paddle board, some tubes (we live in CA, though I did this as a kid in MN where lake life is big). Our spring break has been spent at a river 8 minutes from our home. I usually take a few puffs from my weed pen or drink a white claw when we get there to make it a little more fun (then by the time we leave several hours later it's worn off so no I'm not driving intoxicated).

I do have friends who like to go paddleboarding when my kids are away on the weekends, but none of my kids friends do this.
