Our DC private has 5 Michigan admits year in and year out. This year only one in EA. The ED kids with the stats, legacy, etc. were deferred and waitlisted. How do you go from 5 annually to 1?
Maybe the kids from your private who ended up at Michigan were underwhelming and the admissions department decided to be more discerning.

DP. "Striver" here means getting ahead by deliberately stepping on others and being cut-throat at every turn, it does not mean honest and hard-working.

The interviewer had to call admissions and see if they could extend deadline. It happened, went well as strong interviewer, got rejected. Obviously didn’t expect to get in, but I always envision them saying who do you think you are kid not taking the interview and moving us? Haha

Northwestern for bs-ing their app result release date/time by electing - without explanation or notice - that acceptances were released first, waitlists a little later, and rejections last. My guess is plenty of kids were refreshing their screens for 30 minutes only to get rejected which Northwestern knew.
