Loved the book and can suspend disbelief on some of the science, but some things don't make sense to me. (SPOILERS AHEAD FROM THE BOOK):

Knowing the crew would be altered, why would they not have put together a big booklet saying "READ ME" for when the astronauts woke up?
Why wouldn't Ryland's personal stuff have made it onto the ship?
How did the Earth ship survive entry into the alien's atmosphere?

I thought it was kind of silly and boring.

I would go even farther than that- when I read the book I felt it was completely a love story, except the love in this case is a friendship. I just loved it and am so excited to see the movie!!! I hope the CGI version of Rocky matches the muppet I envisioned.

We loved listening to the audiobook as a family. We saw the movie tonight and really enjoyed it. I thought it was a little slow at first but we all left the theater smiling from ear to ear.

Absolutely loved this movie. Perfect movie to watch with my husband and 17 and 14 year old sons. We all adored it.

95 and 96 on RT, number one movie in America right now, huge profits...but you suspect it's terrible because...it's being marketed?

Never read the book, and generally don't like sci fi. But I really, really liked the movie! Gosling is very engaging in it, and the plot is warm and moves along briskly. (It does help to not think too hard about how realistic the science is.)

It has the same general tone as The Martian or ET. Definitely worth seeing in a theatre--I think it would lose some of its charm watching at home.

I disliked the book. Promising plot, but way too long and I found the narrator annoying. But I’d see the movie.

Saw the movie yesterday. I thought it was a very good adaptation, stayed true to the “emotional core premise” of the book which is the Grace/Rocky friendship. They obviously had to cut things to make it fit into 2.5 hours and make it more accessible so totally get that.

Everyone please read the book (better if you can listen to the audio book. So good!!!!)
