Subject: Dishwasher brand/model that lasts more than 5-6 years?
My Samsung is 12 year old and still going strong. I know people don’t recommend them though.
Are you sure a new motor is $500? Have you looked on eBay? We buy a lot of parts there.

Google whether it has a panel lockout feature that you activate by pressing buttons. My 25 year old Whirlpool had that on a rather primitive digital control panel.
Just don't download manuals from sketchy sites. Google for instructions.
Report back if it works.

After our 3rd GE, sales clerk said seems like you have problems with GE, lol. True. KitchenAid is great, no issues in 5 years so far.

Our Bosch is 8+ years old. No issues. No service. Reliable. Not the most expensive model.

We’re on our second Bosch. First lasted 9 years. It needed a repair that would have cost $300 so we spent an extra $600 (at the time) and got a new one. It’s been 5 years for the second.

This will age me, but I miss Sears/Kenmore. My Bosch will be 12 years old this Summer. Probably just jinxed myself.

Just replaced a 23 year old Bosch with another Bosch. I have no illusions this new one will last 23 years. I’m hoping for at least 10.

Avoid GE. The GE Appliances brand was sold to Chinese company Haier a few years back. Quality of GE branded appliances has tanked since then.

NEVER! Our friend recommended it to us. We bought one 6 months later. FF 7 years, theirs broke and they don't sell parts. Six months later our broke. Planned obsolescence big time!
We've had our ASKO for 16 years now. No complaints.
