Agreed!

My only issue was that after school activities were cancelled and it's not easy to pivot to picking up your kid. I tried to use the carline to pick up (because it's raining) but was told, no, your kids are walkers. So I had to park at my house and walk up to get the kids. I get that you can't just pick up kids any old way you want, but some flexibility would be nice in inclement weather. This is probably just my principal though.

Also, my kids are little (and thus I can't text my kids directly) so I'm sure it's frustrating for teachers to get messages about where the kids are going after school when aftercare isn't open.

LCPS appears to be the only school district in the region to make the right call. Or, rather, no-call.

All this panic was so stupid.

Face it, despite all the hand wringing and pearl clutching, LCPS made the right call. Good on them.

We sheltered in place for close to an hour, and had to juggle an altered lunch schedule as a result, but it was fine. Parents came to get kids in a trickle all day up until actual dismissal.

Seriously. My kid is an LCPS senior and the safest place for her to be is in a sturdy brick school building.

She walks, but if she needs to be picked up, I can do that.
