They announced it right after I forked up $$$ to change my flight 😭

I wonder if they will refund the fees. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Watch here for United travel advisories. They have announced one for the Midwest - one for the DMV could be coming.

I would call and try to talk them into letting you change for free. I did this with United the Saturday before that Feb Sunday storm and they did it.

Yes. How important to OP is $200, and how important to OP is making it to the intended destination at the expected time.

OP if you can answer this, you have your answer.

How important is it that you get there tomorrow vs a later day? If you absolutely need to be there tomorrow you should go ahead and rebook. Maybe call and see if they will let you out of the fee.

There is more than a slight chance. They upped the rating to moderate. Unless you are not really DMV.

It’s going to be above freezing. What do you think will happen?

We’re supposed to get tornadoes tomorrow afternoon

We aren’t “supposed to get” tornadoes. There is a slight chance.

But for a person traveling tomorrow with an itinerary that includes a connecting flight, and a departure time that is at the peak for when severe weather might occur, it’s rational to weigh the impacts of a ground delay on making their subsequent flight. So OP has decide which is worse. Taking an earlier flight and having a longer layover. Or, risking their 4PM flight getting delayed and missing their connecting flight.

I'm tired of the weather around here we have enough drama in our lives. I'm also sick of the many, many posts about this every time there is a new weather threat.

It depends. I was once trying to get home from Florida and they called for tornado warnings in DC. I did know this before boarding for Reagan/National on JetBlue. Pilot took off anyway. Turned into a 12 hour in flight/delay. Awful! I did not eat nor bring snacks. We had to turn around twice and landed in Richmond, Va.
