This is complicated. Maybe they eat 4000 calories in one sitting but are super active and athletic. Maybe they eat 4000 calories in one sitting then hardly eat for the rest of the day or they eat 4000 calories in one sitting but infrequently and eat normally the rest is the time. But your teen is surely not eating 4000 calories per meal, inactive, and “gains zero weight.” It’s impossible.
The teens that need these meds are overeating every meal, every day. It may not even be junk- too much of any food that is in excess to what your body burns causes weight gain. It could be a second helping of dinner or eating too much between meals, but done routinely over long period of time cause weight gain. These are the kids that need help literally shutting off the signals that keep
telling them to eat
