Denise (Maternal grandma, no race associated necessarily with that name)

Third kid....Mom wants Diamond for a girl or DeAndre for a boy because she likes the names and it is finally her chance to choose, and she wants her African American culture represented.

Dad says I disagree. No more D names unless it matches the others.

Point is another D name fits better. IMO.

Good idea for a new thread like Word Game. Three sibling names that start with the same initial. Some tacky, some, cheesy, some accidental, some on purpose, some quite lovely.

Maybe 2, with the fun of it to add the 3rd?

My grandparents names boys starting with one initial and girls with another initial. Dad and siblings were born in early - mid 40s. There were 5 of them. I always thought it was cute, and the names were nice.

My dad had an aunt and uncle that gave their first 3 kids names that all started with the same letter, but then they gave their 4th kid a name that started with a different letter. The 4th kid’s siblings liked to tease her and tell her she was adopted.

If you use the same letter for #3, be prepared to use it in the case of a 4th child.

I don’t think it’s a big deal but it is a little bit of a pain in the neck. You can use easy abbreviations in like texts etc. so for instance when we go to the chore list, we use first initial. If I’m texting my sibling whose kids all have the same first initial, I can just use the initial as a shorthand for instance.
If they are very close. I would worry about Google or ai confusing them as they get older. So Jake and Jack or Caitlin and Cathy or Nora and Nuala.

This is pretty common in my extended family (Indian). Don't really care what anyone thinks.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to avoid a name just because it had the same initial. In fact, it helps to have some frivolous rule to help narrow down the many names to choose from. (We made sure the 3rd name had a Y in it because the other 2 did.)

Also, when do you really see or hear all of your kids names together– maybe on a Christmas card, when you’re already trying to be cute. It’s like when people try to make sure the first + middle + last name sound great, when after the birth announcement, you never really say/see all three together.

I like that our kids have the same first initial. It wasn't purposeful in term so on initials, but their names all mean "light", and are also family names, so that narrowed the field.
