I know it’s not DCUM-ish but I would love a mudroom in front of house where everyone removes all outdoor clothing and shoes before they come in house. I see this a lot in ski house rentals. Not glamorous but functional for me.
+1. I would look for a long armoire with plenty of character for hanging space (I assume there's not tons of closet space in a house of this age). All outerwear for all seasons could hang in there.
I would also add a pretty and comfortable bench and hang hooks above it for when you need to hang parkas and hats. Maybe a boot tray, if you can find an attractive one.
You may be able to fit a small writing desk and chair to use to drop mail or to have a laptop for a small workspace (can't tell if there's a home office in a house of this size, or how many people may be working or studying at once).
